Quantum have expanded our capability and technical competence with the introduction of a state-of-the-art ABB Robot cell.

The robot, affectionately known as ‘Robbie’, will initially be used for precision trimming. With an eye on the future, the possibilities go far beyond trimming for both development and production. The robot has a reach of around 2.5m and can trim at more than 4m/ minute with excellent part to part consistency. This makes it an ideal tool for trimming higher volume parts.

The robot is the main element in an investment which improves both capability and capacity. It is housed in a newly built cell which provides flexible manufacturing space. The cell includes state of the art ‘reverse jet’ filtered extraction which ensures that whether the area is used for trimming, spraying or other production, a high quality of air is maintained.  

Our in-house engineering capabilities support the development and production of trimming jigs, to ensure that parts are accurately located, and the robot can use a standard index point for consistent part to part trimming.
